The best performers of the session on the were MMK (MCX:), which rose 3.58% or 0.665 points to trade at 19.230 at the close. Meanwhile, SG mechel (MCX:) added 3.16% or 1.96 points to end at 64.00 and Sberbank (MCX:) was up 2.62% or 2.46 points to 96.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were MVideo (MCX:), which fell 2.88% or 7.50 points to trade at 253.20 at the close. MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:) declined 1.62% or 140.0 points to end at 8510.0 and Aeroflot (MCX:) was down 1.52% or 0.86 points to 55.80.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 101 to 98 and 27 ended unchanged.

Gold for April delivery was down 0.55% or 6.60 to $1192.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.13% or 0.04 to hit $27.98 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 3.30% or 1.00 to trade at $31.32 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 1.64% to 78.4016, while EUR/RUB fell 1.08% to 88.089.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.27% at 96.30.
