The worst performers of the session were E.ON Russia (MCX:), which fell 3.16% or 0.0790 points to trade at 2.4210 at the close. Ros Agro PLC (MCX:) declined 3.09% or 38 points to end at 1190 and Polymetal International PLC (MCX:) was down 2.92% or 20.50 points to 680.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 105 to 89 and 19 ended unchanged.

Gold for April delivery was down 2.43% or 30.10 to $1209.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.02% or 0.30 to hit $29.74 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $33.36 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.80% to 77.7310, while EUR/RUB fell 2.77% to 86.164.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.87% at 96.82.
