
Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

The best performers of the session on the were Gerdau SA (SA:), which rose 8.18% or 0.31 points to trade at 4.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:) added 8.05% or 0.33 points to end at 4.43 and Smiles ON (SA:) was up 7.96% or 2.39 points to 32.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:), which fell 2.18% or 0.14 points to trade at 6.29 at the close. Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:) declined 1.77% or 0.08 points to end at 4.44 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:) was down 0.93% or 0.090 points to 9.550.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 238 to 74 and 29 ended unchanged.

Gold for April delivery was down 2.92% or 36.20 to $1203.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.14% or 0.34 to hit $29.11 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 0.45% or 0.53 to trade at $116.97 .
USD/BRL was up 1.64% to 4.0726, while EUR/BRL rose 1.51% to 4.5372.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 96.90.
